We’ve all heard of Thanksgiving Thursday. It’s an all-American tradition that seamlessly combines gratefulness, televised parades, overeating, and football.
But did you know that a couple of days later is something known as Giving Tuesday. That’s right. Giving Tuesday. It is a movement that, instead of focusing what we have received, focuses on how much we can give.
This global movement is designed to “do unto others” with a kind of radical generosity. The movement began in 2012 and has since been gathering steam. Today it is impacting hundreds of thousands of people all around the world.
People helping people.
How does it work? Simple. On Tuesday, November 29th, you go out of your way to do something nice. Smile at a stranger, donate to a charity, volunteer at church, make a micro loan to a fledgling business, drop something off at a local thrift shop, pay for the coffee of the person behind you in line. You know, be human. On Tuesday. November 29th. One day.
Or let’s go a little crazy and commit to being a little more selfless every Tuesday of the year. Or go totally radical and give of yourself and help a stranger every single day of the week. Be really bold and ask your company to adopt this cause.
Participating in Giving Tuesday will not only help you help others––it will help make you a better person. Now there’s a radical thought.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
